What Do Patients Say About Nick?

After fracturing my heel in May 2020, I gathered arthritis within the first 6 months of the injury which took its toll on my social & work life. The pain became too unbearable which left me no choice but to go down the route of surgery.

My Experience of surgery was a straightforward process. After receiving a bone fusion in July 2021, three months later I was slowly applying more weight until eventually walking. I am now eight months into recovery & I’m now back to work full time. I feel I have still got a long way to go but overall surgery has taken the pain & stress away and has improved my quality of life massively. The care I received by Nick & his team could not be faulted; I would recommend anyone in this scenario to go ahead with surgery.

I just wanted you to pass on to Mr Savva my sincere thanks & gratitude for putting back together my severe broken ankle. From being told at hospital that I would never walk properly again & certainly no distance, to how I am today, 99% perfect, has been a long 5-month journey.

Along with Mr Savva’s expert skills & knowledge, came his patience & caring, which was all backed up by your lovely caring attitude from my very first phone call. I have heard some horror stories of people with lesser injuries who never fully recovered. All I can say is that they were not treated by Mr Savva! If any patients thinking of using Mr Savva need reassurance, feel free to ask them to contact me.

Following an ankle injury 4 years ago, I was advised at the time that it was likely to heal on its own and surgery may make the ankle more unstable. Over the intervening years, the problem became worse with increased pain and instability. I saw Mr Savva within 10 working days of my referral where he made an initial diagnosis of ligament rupture, and this was confirmed by an MRI within a further 5 days. I was then scheduled very quickly for ankle surgery.

Immediately following the surgery, the constant pain that I had had was completely gone. Within a month I was up and walking about and far more active than I had been able to be prior to the surgery. Now, two months later, my ankle seems better than it was before the injury! I can walk with my dogs, undertake exercise and all pain-free. Throughout the whole process, Mr Savva was friendly, clear thorough, informative and reassuring. His care and expertise are exceptional – I really can’t thank him enough. I wish I had had this surgery years ago.

My doctor referred me to Mr Nick Savva as I have a foot injury. I did not know what to expect and Nick immediately put me at ease with his calm engaging manner. I have been impressed by his meticulous investigation and speedy response. Nick has gone that extra mile to provide quality care and follow up. Nick has reassured and encouraged me as I strive to do my part in my own recovery. Katie has also been a very positive link to ensure effective communication. Thank you both!

This is just to let you know, three months after my total ankle replacement, how very delighted I am with the new ankle. It has liberated me from constrained walking for my body , and I find I'm swinging along easily in country walks that are now such a pleasure. Furthermore, its return to health seems to have affected the whole body into easier movement than before, feeling more balanced overall. I was surprised at that. Thank you so much for your skill, patience, ease with me as a patient, and genuine positivity over.

Over the years I have had several metatarsal fractures in my left foot. All have healed, however, as a consequence over the years my foot has become chronically painful. I saw Dr Savva privately and he diagnosed arthritis and was able to achieve a great improvement by the administration of Steroid Injections into the right areas using Image Guidance. I was very pleased with the results. I am an ex Charge Nurse and Clinical Manager with 25 years of experience with the NHS and having worked with lots of Medical Consultants during that time I know that some are better than others to deal with. Apropos Dr Savva I would have to say that he is extremely easy to communicate with and puts you at ease right away his professional, friendly and calm demeanour whilst at the same time never rushing the consultations. I would highly recommend Dr Savva.

For decades I’ve visited doctor, chiropodist, podiatrist and reflexologist for a persistent aching pain in my toe. In desperation I went back to the doctor and said “send me to the best man for feet”. If only I had done it years ago. Mr. Savva clearly spelled out the pros and cons of operating while showing me an x-ray. Decision made he operated on two toes.

Not only were the stitches a work of art but the pain has vanished. The follow up care was exemplary. I cannot speak too highly of him or recommend him enough.

I urge anyone not to delay as I did but to seek his advice.

In 2004 I was medically discharged from HM forces following a nasty, lower leg injury. For many years I suffered with agonizing pain, with debilitating movement. That was until I was introduced to Nick who completed an ankle arthrodesis in 2014. Nick's skill, compassion and dedication to the task is unquestionable. I have no regrets in having this surgery and would recommend Mr. Savva to anyone who is suffering from ankle/foot problems.

Many thanks and should you wish to contact me I would be more than happy to chat. Katie, Nick’s secretary, can put you in touch with me.

In May 2018 I was run into at speed by my dog. My ankle was broken in four places. An appointment with Mr. Savva was quick to arrange and I was very well looked after by Mr. Savva and the Winterbourne Hospital. I acquired a lot of metalwork and, after five months, I’m comfortable and getting stronger, having had no problems or set-backs. I’m grateful for Mr. Savva and his team’s skills and for his pleasant and professional manner.

Having spent some 40 years in the Army and its associated physical demands, my left ankle was becoming increasingly troublesome with the onset of arthritis meaning that I was regularly in considerable pain and routinely limping badly. Having already sought other specialist opinions, I was recommended to consult Mr Savva - following which I had an arthrodesis performed by him some 6 months ago.

This is proving to be a life changing success even at this relatively early stage. I am now pretty much pain free and able to hike and bike without a care. Suffice it to say that I cannot recommend Mr Savva more highly to prospective patients. Not just for his exceptional surgical skills but also for the care he takes to explain every aspect of the proposed procedure - its risks, benefits and realities. A very satisfied customer!

I would like to thank Mr Nick Savva for his care and skill in performing a cheilectomy and bunionectomy on my right foot only 3 weeks ago. As I had always been under the impression that any foot operation was extremely painful and recovery long winded, the thought of “self inflicting” pain always hindered me seeking a referral to a suitable consultant orthopaedic surgeon.

Having eventually been referred to Mr Savva by my GP and the procedures performed been very successful, I wish I had received the treatment years ago - 100% positive experience. No crutches, no pain and while my foot was supported in a post op shoe, I was able to place full weight on my foot immediately. I followed Mr Savva’s guidance to the letter and elevated my foot for 50/60minutes for two weeks. This clearly made an enormous contribution to me not experiencing any pain whatsoever. Unbelievable!

Full recovery will clearly take some time, but I am currently able to walk comfortably if a little slower than normal. The exciting world of shoes is now nearer to be being explored once again! Thank you Mr Savva.

NonFoot surgery

I decided to proceed with ankle fusion (arthrodesis) by Mr Nick Savva which appears, at 6 months post op, to have been a great success. I have been fortunate to have had little pain after the procedure and have enjoyed great care and advice by both my surgeon and The Winterbourne Hospital.

I have benefitted from the expert physio team at the hospital as well as the Alter-G treadmill which has been a terrific bonus. Having been in great pain with osteo-arthritis in my talonavicular joint, I now am walking almost normally and getting my life back.

Thank you all for your care and attention. I am a very satisfied and happy patient! 😊 I can even wear my jazzy shoes again now!! 😉THANK YOU Mr Savva & team! I am so grateful.

I just wanted to say a huge thank you to you. I am back on my bike and running again with no pain in my foot for the first time in nearly 2 years. It means a lot to me, especially in these difficult times. Now I am looking forward to getting back in the pool again!
