How Expensive are Private Operations?

Private operations can seem expensive until you consider what is involved.

Private hospitals are some of the most regulated institutions around as standards need to be kept as high as possible. This all costs money but it is well spent as outcomes are excellent and complications, such as infection, are kept to a minimum.

Staffing levels are optimised, and everyone is very well trained.

Implants such as joint replacements or screws to fix bones are very expensive as they too are manufactured to the highest standards. They will be in you forever if all goes well!

Everyone gets their own room and bathroom, and the food and drink are excellent.

What does the price include?

It is important that you clarify this before proceeding to avoid nasty surprises. This varies between hospitals, surgeons and procedures. In most cases the fee includes the procedure, implants, staff fees and the hospital stay. It usually includes a couple of follow up appointments too, but you may need to pay for one or two more if the procedure is complex.
